Staff Accountant, Corporate Accounting

Description of Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position primarily include:

  • Review daily banking activity and ensure transactions are properly coded, entered and reconciled in Oracle Cash Management module.
  • Prepare Medical activity, premiums and reserve journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare payroll entries and reconciliations.
  • Assist with research and ensure inquiries have been responded to correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure activity in third party system is reviewed, coded and posted to the general ledger.
  • Frequent communication with other corporate departments, Business Support Center and dealership personnel regarding various Corporate related transactions.
  • Preparation of various journal entries into the Company’s general ledger.
  • Daily review of specific Corporate Accounting email inboxes including responding to inquiries, prioritizing tasks, rerouting inquiries to the appropriate Corporate Accounting personnel and archiving emails and documents into the appropriate folders.
  • Process intercompany postings for inclusion monthly intercompany statements.
  • Preparation of monthly account reconciliations and summary reports.
  • Ensure compliance with established SOX controls.
  • Assist with quarterly legal reconciliation by managing legal confirmations and updating relevant supporting documents.
  • Assist with Corporate Property & Casualty accounting processes.
  • Assist with Corporate accounts payable process.
  • Participate in special and ad-hoc projects as needed.

The candidate must be:

  • An effective communicator, including the use of both verbal and written forms of communication.

The ideal candidate should have, at a minimum:

  • Successfully retained a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree, with a major in accounting or finance, from a reputable business college;
  • A firm understanding of accounting principles;
  • One to three years of relevant experience in accounting at a large, multi-location corporation and/or public accounting firm;
  • Retained, or be eligible and desire to achieve, certification as a public accountant;
  • A working knowledge of Oracle Fusion ERP;
  • Advanced Excel experience: familiarity with SmartView or other Excel add-in tools for querying ERP and EPM data is a plus.
