Group 1 Automotive, a leader in automotive retail, is looking for a Data Scientist to join our team. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining algorithms and analytic tools that help Group 1 acquire quality customers and optimize the shopping experience for those customers. If you are excited about understanding complex data sets from various sources, this is the job for you. You will take data from Group 1’s operations and analyze it to help our team predict future behavior and make better operating decisions.

  • Assess performance of in-market operational data and identify and act on opportunities for improvement
  • Partner with teams across Group 1 to explore new use cases for algorithms to improve operational results and consumer experience
  • Design tests and develop strategies to collect data to improve experiences for Group 1 customers
  • Work directly with vendors to source and evaluate cutting-edge data for inclusion into our model
  • Aggregate data from a variety of datasets, automate data collection and processing
  • Communicate analytical findings to the operational team and executive leadership
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Degree in Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
  • At least 4 years of experience in a relevant field
  • 1+ years as a lead person or as manager of a team.
  • Experience working with a retail, sales or product-based business is desired.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms and an ability to tie analytic results to business outcomes.
  • Strong results focus, project management and teamwork
  • Proficiency in coding for analysis and experience with at least one statistical package
