This position is responsible for providing payroll processing and support for Group 1 Automotive, a Fortune 500 automotive retailer and a leading operator in the $1 trillion automotive retailing industry. Group 1 currently owns over 125 automotive dealerships with over 144 franchises, and over 31 different brands, and 24 collision service centers located in fifteen states and the United Kingdom and Brazil. Through its dealerships and Internet sites, Group 1 sells new and used cars and light trucks; arranges related vehicle financing, service and insurance contracts; and sells vehicle parts.

Maintain current/new employee information in system of record
Monitor/report corrections for the time-keeping system to store management/designee
Validate regular file feeds from third-party vendors for accurate loading to system of record
Process payroll accurately and timely on a routine basis for assigned stores
Maintain/reconcile employee-related account schedules for assigned stores
Process and post regular General Ledger files to Accounting system of record
Perform regular storage of Payroll-related documentation to maintain compliance
Reconcile monthly garnishment payments against active employee records.
Assist with maintaining Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for assigned stores as related to payroll records.
Perform Quarter-End and Year-End validations against payroll records.
Participate in professional development through cross-training and assigned activities
Maintain positive working relationship with assigned stores and field personnel
Assists manager and team members with various payroll-related projects
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum high school degree with payroll processing knowledge of five-years or more preferred. Automotive Dealership and Paylocity/ADP Enterprise/CDK experience preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel with ability to create csv files. Strong understanding of federal and multi-state payroll tax laws. Must be able to work positively in a team environment.
Position will be based at our Business Support Center in Houston, Texas. Candidate must have limited overtime flexibility.
